Survival Adventure Night
As part of out DT topic 'Shelters' and English work on the book 'Kensuke's Kingdom' this term, we designed, built and slept in our very own survival shelters in the school hall! What an exciting night we had! We worked in groups to design our shelters and then (with the help of some very much appreciated adults) we used bamboo canes and rope to build a secure structure that could be covered in tarpaulin for us to sleep in to survive the night. In the evening, we did some orienteering, toasted marshmallows, played a huge game of hide and seek and enjoyed 'capture the flag' in the dark with glowsticks. We then settled down to read the final chapter of our class book with hot chocolates and teddies! It really was a fantastic night and we are so proud of how Year 5 worked together, persevered and challenged themselves throughout the day and night. Thank you also to all of the adults who gave up their own time to help us with our little adventure - it really made the experience a success!
